A Preachment for Teens! 

Let's teach the young people of this generation who unknowingly worship celebrity icons/idols/false doctrines/no doctrine/pagan deities that the only person they should mimic, follow and worship is Jesus, who is iconic, role model and leader... Goddaughters Workshop wants to redirect our youth towards your majesty Jesus! I'm honored! 

They will find out that they're privileged in God as His children with an eternal inheritance! OMG!!! 

I'm on fire while writing this because I know it's a passion, mandate, assignment and clarion call! As God instructed the Children of Israel to speak of His wonders to their next generation so all will be blessed and redeemed. They need to learn about standards in God, holiness, sanctification, reverencing God, and righteousness. 

Although, some of us who were raised in a holiness background/denomination/church, we can admit and attest that in spite of any theological concepts, error based on ignorance (not a bad word or with negative connotation) or legalism, we learned discipline, structure, abiding by laws, love, all of the above (sanctification, righteousness...) and it's those teachings and structure that taught us about a holy God, living right, treating our neighbors right, respecting adults, helping those less fortunate, serving, humility, family values, prayer, fasting, interceding, being filled/endowed with the POWER of the Holy Ghost, walking in the Fruits of the Spirit, and so much more.

   This is what kept us or brought some of us back to the Old Landmark! The Way! The Truth! The Life in Christ! Today, many are learning another gospel that allows them to be loose and false doctrine, focused on eloquent dialogue, feel-good sermons and motivational speeches incorporated with pagan deities/philosophies, as the Apostle Paul warned the churches about those that preach a jesus that allows and makes excuses for sin, pat people on their back instead of ministering the Gospel of reconciliation, who try to nurse demons (which is impossible), allow lasciviousness, altered/perverted life styles contrary to biblical teaching and on and on...

Most artists will tell you that painting, dancing, acting, singing, playing musical instrument, music, drawing, knitting, sewing, crocheting, coloring, sculpturing/potter, molding (you get it...) all have a way of distracting your mind from current situations, issues and other matters because you become so engage in the present state of creating/building/formulating some type of construct, that you forget about other pending matters...

Well, this article also presents the "Art of Braiding" (including twisting) as another artistic therapeutic braiding activity/intervention if you will...

It's "Self-esteem & Encouraging Positive Behavior Month"

It's "Self-esteem, Abstinence Education and decreasing/eliminating Promiscuous Behavior Month" with my teen clients/mentees. I'm hitting them hard with facts, consequences, affirmations, learning to rewrite their histories (I'll call it, "history in the making") and not letting history dictate the future, breaking generational familial patterns, confidence & esteem building, embracing and empowering peers, cognitive-behavior and psychoeducation. It's deliverance time...excited for new birth!

Change the way you think, change the way you feel and change your behavior-but through healing first. It's called healing holistically & deliverance in the spiritual. It's called healing emotionally and cognitive-behavioral changes in psychology. Check out video from Niko Everett creator of TEDx program, discussing inspirational and empowering messages and testimony of building her own self-esteem and helping young women do the same.

As the Body of Christ, are we praying against these spirits at work in our children?

Nowadays, although we still have liberty in our country to read our Bibles, use our personal belongings while in public, we now have to be careful when walking in the street-using our cell phones??? The new negative behavioral trend now, aside from randomly punching people in the head, is snatching cell phones out of folk’s hands when their phones are visible to others.

Kids/youth today are more and more desensitized to the value of life, consideration, due diligence, love, family and respect. They’re bored/idle/neglected/thirsty/hungry/empty/lost & easily influenced/pressured into engaging in incomprehensive/destructive & dangerous activities “just for the fun of it.” They’re not armed with the mighty weapon of God-His Word!

The enemy can easily infiltrate them through these areas of desensitization-through their emotions, identity, vulnerability, esteem, dysfunctionality and psyche. The enemy also comes in the form of medicine, drugs, negative peer pressure, familial issues & generational patterns, and other substances. Many of young villagers have lost (or never learned) the art of engaging in constructive activities such as writing, reading for fun/relaxation, using their hands and minds for creativeness, building & crafting, sporting, socialization, etc.

Beloved, children in today’s society are not practicing self-control, healthy-critical reasoning/thought before action. It seems as if a spirit of suicide/mental illness & lack of impulse control is possessing/ruling their thoughts and emotions. I termed it ‘spirit’ because, it’s not that every one of them is diagnosed with some type of disability but they mimic the behavior of those with mental disabilities/developmental disabilities. The act of suicide is more prevalent today than ever before. It’s an easy way out and immediately contemplated.

When I’m speaking with, mentoring, counseling and coaching children and youth, I oft explored their thought process to find out what they actually think about before engaging in harmful (toward self & others) behavior. I often ask if and/or what they consider before they exhibit negative behaviors and if they consider the consequences and ramifications. The overarching theme that they respond with is, get this, “I was bored” “I don’t know” “No, I don’t think” “It seem fun at the time” and so on. It seemed like the only thing they’re more concerned about is getting caught” But not how their behavior will affect others! Sad!  Selah!

Just sharing one of the issues I am praying about. These are some of the issue I address within my goddaughters’ workshops.

It’s Not Me! So Let Me Out!

Some people are born artists. Period! Our society sometimes frown/shone on/at the artistic side of human beings and try to fit them into a prescribed mapped out 'ideal' career or education tract. This is one of the reasons why so many of us are unhappy at our jobs, because simply put, “It’s not us” or we have trouble adjusting or discontent but since we have to make a living…and the fact that we have been conditioned to think that WE HAVE to always settle and fall into the system because we have to work at doing something. But we as parents who are whole and know better, understand that we have to raise up a child in THE WAY THAT HE/SHE SHOULD GO, OH come on somebody, I bet you never applied this scripture to this area right? 

• But I want you to know that you and I can Get Our Life Back!And for those who made have made mistakes or had outstanding obstacles, there is a season to get back on track! The life God originallyordained, purposed, engrafted, gifted, talented andempowered us to live, even if it doesn’t fit into the ‘norm’ and as long as it’s pleasing to God! Amen. I’m fin to set someone free today! This message came to me first and I’m sharing it with you because it was meant for me to release and bless others. They’re trying to tell you that your name is Toby and you are trying to tell ‘them’ “No, it’s Kunta Kinte.

From My Teen Life Coaching Class-2nd workshop "Get It Out!"

Things that seemed dead and forgotten in my past such as my passions-writing, singing, mentoring, preaching, entrepreneurship, counseling, and more have come to life and still coming to life because of my learning to trust and have faith, and avoid negative attitudes and naysayers in order to move forward. I learned how to fight! But not alone...

The goal of the project is to help you identify your inner abilities; gifts; skills; talents; and potential. Giving life to your visions/dreams and setting plan in action by creating this life-goals template for your self to help you set milestones (stepping stones under each goal) to reach your life's goals, and help you stay focused. Visualize achieving goals and believe it! This is one of the methods I used to help me accomplish goals and dreams such as but not limited to: get through school, start my business, write my book, work on my ministry, organize my life, set priorities, and help others. And I'm Still Working at it...

When you get chance, finish reading Romans Chapter 4 and check out the summary of Abraham and how he believed God and just for believing, God counted it as righteousness and blessed Abraham because although he didn't SEE the whole plan/promise of God, he had faith and trust! Some call it blind faith.
